Diagnosing a smoke problem

I have a 1991 ford ranger 3.0L v6, and after putting in a valve cover gasket have smoke coming from a elbow heater hose adapter. It's white smoke which I assume means I have a head gasket blown but I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem to confirm or if it could be another problem. The car still runs and idles fine, and the smoke only builds up when I am actually driving the vehicle.

What’s coming out of the tailpipe? Check your fluid in the radiator what’s it doing. And check the oil. How does it look?
