Died while driving - Can't find problem
I was driving my 2001 3.0 on the interstate on a hot day for about 45 minutes. As I was exiting onto the ramp, it just completely died. I lost the power steering and brakes, which was scary, but I was able to ride the momentum and pull it into a parking lot. I opened the hood and I saw a red fluid sprayed up on the driver side of the engine. At first I thought it was transmission fluid, but I'm pretty sure it was power steering fluid because it was all over the power steering cap and below it. I got back in and it started right up, but it would shudder when I would turn the steering wheel. Especially when turning it to the left. I turned it off and had it towed to a mechanic. I assumed it was the power steering hose. He looked at it after a couple days and said it drives totally fine and he can't find anything wrong with it. I think that's the worst news a mechanic can have because now I'm afraid to drive it. I haven't had a chance to inspect it myself. Any thoughts?
