exhaust price quote

so i went to a place called 503 Motoring. They do tint and exhausts for expensive cars like Lambos and Benzes. They do Borla exhausts, and they quoted me at $1,175 for a single in dual out all stainless steel. Does that sound really high to you? is all stainless something that is really necessary? I really do not want to spend that much, so i would rather get a non stainless piping.

the exhaust will sound "more racey" but thats about it. No power gains with a stock engine running a stock tune.

You went to 503 motoring? dude...get your butt to a specialty exhaust shop. Here we REALLY have NO need for all stainless bs. Sure it's cool...but my pipes are plain old aluminized and done locally too, been on the truck since 04 and dude, they still look new. My exhaust when i did it, ran me about $150 to hang(single tailpipe) and duals were like $200-220 to bend and hang up.

See what an exhaust shop will do for ya. Mulligans muffler in Sandy, OR is a great place to go to...Randy's a great guy to deal with. He's a pretty cool dude.

I would suggest Master Muffler(where I went), but i think they are out of business as of now. That's where I had mine done at. They had multiple locations throughout the Portland Metro Area.

I plan on eventually getting headers and a tune. I realize i won't gain much with a 3.0

And shane i went there first to just get a quote. theyre a quality shop and they had borla products. i think what they had was the entire borla cat back kit so thats probably why its so expensive.

i was was actually quoted on a flowmaster SI/DO 6 months ago at master muffler in tualatin for $500 with just aluminum all welded. unless theyve gone out of business since then they should still be there. i really like the sound of borla over a flowmaster or magnaflow its nice and deep and doesnt drone at all. my dad said he will call around for me.

If it was me, I would wait till I got the headers and do a true dual exhaust. Might as well if you are getting a custom system done anyways. But like shane said, it is always going to be cheaper for a muffler shop to quicky bend one up for you, then to buy the pre-fabbed kits from borola/magnaflow etc. Call around and find a good specialty shop. I have been quoted on a simple single in single out system for $383 including a magnaflow muffler. And that is up here in Canada where things are usually 30-40% more.

would adding headers to a stock exhaust make the truck sound any different?
