Flexfuel vs regular

Does the flex fuel system take a different fuel pump than the regular fuel system? I need to replace my fuel pump and I am being told that since my truck is a flexfuel that i can't use the 80 dollar pump which works in regular fuel system, I need a special 250 dollar pump.

I would imagine so not 100% but the flex uses bigger injectors which require higher fuel pressure that seems like a huge price difference though.
