Is the delta flow quieter on the outside than the original 40?

For my exhaust i think that i will be doing a standard single out using the original piping but adding in the Flowmaster. well i'll be doing that until i get the money for a real exhaust system

Yea im thinking of going the same way. Does the piping change the sound levels at all? If I throw a flowmaster 40 on my stock piping will it sound good?

So do people get si/do mufflers just for the dual pipe look?
Also, fx4wannabe, how is the cab noise with the original 40?

thanks for all the advice guys... the sweet part about getting my exhaust is that there is a career center nearby that trains students all the mechanic stuff so i can get everything welded on for free

What's with all the popping noise......I wouldn't want my exhaust to sound like that. It sounds sick, like unhealthy sick, not cool sick.

Ive got a Gibson Cat-back system on my truck.. My dad put it on the other day, ive only heard it over the phone, so i cant really say exactly what it sounds like, but itsounded good over the phone. Its SI/DO, its also swept side ,i like the looks of it better...my dad is going to be sending me a video of it, and i will put it up so you can see what it sounds like...

Im am 90% sure now that Im going to go with the flowmaster 40 original muffler. Im going to be putting it on stock piping. So should I go with 2.25? Also, should I get offset or center?

the popping really only occurs on deceleration, downshifting in a manual trans truck. I don't know when popping would happen in an auto, other than manual downshifting.

I don't call it a pop...i call it a "flowgurgle"

Get a O/C....offset in, center out. On my 01, the stock cat back was 2". But if you plan on someday doing the complete cat back, get a 2.25.....because thats likely what the shop would put on when getting a new cat back installed.

I have an original 40. It sounds as good as it gets with a muffler, lol. Much better than my Dynomax SuperTurbo did.
