FM145 Transmission Clutch Kit and Flywheel.

Hey y’all. I have a 91 Ranger XLT 2.9L V6. I’m doing a manual swap. I bought a FM145 tranny from my buddy of mine and am looking for new clutch kit + the flywheel. I’ve never done a swap and can’t find the right clutch kit and flywheel.

Do any of y’all know or have suggestions on which ones to use?

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum

So you have a 4x4 Ranger, thats what the FM145 and 146 were for, FM132 was for 2WD
You need the Block Plate for the FM transmission, that thin metal piece between engine and transmission, or starter will grind or not turn the engine

You can run a 4.0l clutch and flywheel on the 2.9l with 4.0l starter motor
2.9l used a 8.75 clutch, 4.0l a 10" clutch, article here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...-5-speed-swap/
So I would do that

As for the transmission itself...................the TKs and FMs were not all that good and are very hard to get parts for now
An M5OD-R1(M5R1) from a 1990-1997 4.0l Ranger or Mazda B4000 would be a better choice, matching 4WD or 2WD which ever you have

You will need to change driveshafts for either the FM or M5R1 swap
