Have a no start with no OBD11 codes

Hi, I have a 2995 ford ranger. I came back from town and later it would not start. I checked for codes and it said PASS no codes. I suspect a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay. Would a bad fuel pump or relay throw an engine code? I need help. And how would I check without no codes? Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I will assume 3.0l engine.
2005

And "no start" in this case means starter motor is working fine but engine is not firing up.

And no "anti-theft light" is flashing rapidly.

Since you have been gone never assume there is gas in the tank, add a few gallons or remove cap and rock the truck to listen for fuel sloshing around.

Fuel pump is not quiet, you will hear it come on when key is turned on, but it will only run for 2 seconds, you will hear a "hummmmm" then it shuts off.
Turn key on and off as many times as needed to listen for the pump.

Bad pump would not "throw a code", bad fuel pump relay would.

Computer monitors power to the fuel pump, when computer closes fuel pump relay it will 'see' the 12volts when relay closes, if it doesn't then it will set a code.
But computer has no way to monitor if the fuel pump is actually running when it gets the 12volts.

PATS, Fords anti-theft system disables fuel pump and injectors, but in 2005 it should also disable starter motor, and you would get the flashing anti-theft light as well.

Simple 50/50 test
Remove PCV hose or Power Brake booster hose from intake manifold
Spray some gasoline or Ether(Quick Start) into the manifold
Replace hose
Try to start

If it fires up then dies fuel is the issue
If it doesn't fire up then spark is the issue

50/50
