Mod/How many miles since Question
Hello everyone,
I need to find out who all has done the maf mod and the throttle body grinding mod(half shafting) and how much miles they have since this mod. I wanna check the reliabilty of these mods to make sure I wont screw myself later. Post which mod you have and the milage with it please. Thanks to all.

What are the side effects of the oil getting on the MAF? Is it noticeable while driving? Would it cause any noise perhaps?

And Andrew, we've never had a problem with ANY 3.0 doing the mod, just 4.0's (like Bob's for instance).
Bob, do you have a scan tool? Can you check your "long term fuel trim" at idle and part throttle?

Did you try it before you sanded? Just curious since some work fine without the sanding. Oh well, the 4.0 is "quirky" about that. Could just be the idle -- which afflicts MANY of them. Have you tried PCM reset, then letting it idle for 15 minutes with the A/C off, then 15 minutes with the A/C on? That would relearn the idle startegy and MIGHT help, but it hasn't in many of them.

I was getting bad idle the RPMs would drop and it died sometimes, you could smell gas in the exhaust, very smokey exhaust. I didnt notice any "noise" but im not sure what kind youre talkin about

I am still having this whistling noise and rpms and throttle response and/or tranny probs....something just isnt right. I had the pedal literally pinned to the floor tonight and i was stuck doing 70 and 4k rpms...could this be from oil on the MAF? Do I just spray it with the electronic parts cleaner and thats it? Is it avail at pep boys or any auto parts store?

As far as the PCM reset and quick learn, that is just for the base IAC flow rate for the idle w/ and w/o AC, in neutral and drive. On a manual like mine, it is for AC on and AC off only. It really shouldn't have made any difference unless the AC was cycling, which it wasn't. Still, it wouldn't hurt to try it, I guess.

Disconnect negative lead, remove MAF
Flush, let dry, flush again let dry, avoid direct stream on MAF filament
install MAF - reconnect negative lead
