Mystery hose coming out of firewall under wiper motor.

Would someone help me identify a small diameter plastic semi-rigid hose that comes from the back of the engine, loops around the EGR valve area and then disappears into the firewall under the wiper motor at the end of a strange looking gray plastic plug?

Looking at the Chilton manual, the cruise control actuator vacuum line and vacuum supply hose are to the right of it but this third line is not labeled.

The line was resting on the EGR supply tube and had melted partially. I put some duct tape on the melted area and secured the line away from the supply tube with a zip tie.

Is this a vacuum hose? What does it do?

Thanks again,

Dan

If you turn on the heater for cab heat, does the air only blow out the defrost no matter where the dial is set?

I will check on Monday. The heater/vents are selected by two sliding levers rather than *****.

Looking to ask a question on the Ranger-Forums.com? One of the first things you can do so that others are can assist you in answering any questions is to list your specs / details in your signature.

For example, set your signature with year / make / model / drivetrain etc.

The more full signatures people see, the more likely they are to also create their own.
