Need help with transfer cooler fittings
First post, and YES, I used the search function!
I just replaced my radiator with an online purchase, and it came with two sizes of trans fittings. The smaller size came pretty installed, and the tards GLUED THEM IN! Can you guess why this irritates me???? Because they're the wrong size, that's why!!!
Anyways... I tried to get it out, but I wrenched so hard I thought it'd break, so im going for an adaptor. I have searched all my hardware stores, and can't find anything to fit right. So is there an after market adaptor I can buy, or does anybody know the sizes and thread pitch of the smaller size fittings?
Thanks in advance for any help getting my baby back on the road!

Welcome to the forum
What year is "your baby" and what engine size, 2.9l or 3.0l?
I assume a Ranger with automatic transmission
If you heat up the "glue" even with a lighter it should loosen up, save a trip to parts store, if larger fittings are correct size

It's a 91 with the 3.0L, A4LD, 2wd...
I'm gonna try heating it up. It has a secondary trans-cooler, and I temporarilly bypassed the radiator portion of it, putting a hose over the lines, so maybe I'll try just getting it hot by driving, and if that doesn't work I'll use a heat gun.
I should probably check the line temp while using just the auxiliary cooler, and who knows, maybe if I can't get the fittings switched it won't hurt anything. We'll see.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Radiator trans cooler serves two purposes, to try and keep trans fluid below 205degF and to keep it above 175degF
So in colder climates it warms the trans fluid in some cases
Running trans outside of that 30deg range takes miles off its life, but the fluid above 205deg really hurts it, which is why a second trans cooler is a must have, best $60 you can spend on any vehicle with an automatic

Heating it worked like a charm! A big washer around the fitting to protect the plastic tank from my heat gun, and pretty soon they loosened up nicely!
Thank you very much for the help, and I will remember this tip!
