Never ending Squeak!!
Never ending Squeak!!
aight my friends ranger has a major issue. She replaces her belt like every 10k miles!! shes replaced the idler pully and the squeak is still there. also her engine overheats on occasion, not always but sometimes. Im stumped. any ideas??
its a ford? mine ALWAYS squeaks when its wet even with the "miracle gatorback belt"
on our other ford, the squeak wasnt the belt, it was something in the engine that spins for the tachometer and it was worn out

Is it a continuous squeak? Mine did that for months, but right now it just has a little squeak every 10 seconds or so...and i cant figure it out either. Plus when my CB is on, every time i hear the squeak, a quick high pitch tone comes through the cb.
Anyone have idea's about what would do that?

What year ranger is it. mine is a 99 and I replaced all the pulleys and the belt and it ended up being the syncro. My wife got it changed at the dealer while I was in Afghanistan and no more squeaks.
I have had the exact same problem. I have changed the belt, changed the idler pulley, changed the tensioner, and i have the gatorback in my garage waiting to be put on. But i spotted that my tensioner is kind of spinning cockeyed causing the belt to be pushed forward on the tensioner pulley a little; causing premature wear on the belt. I will probably have to order a how new tensioner arm assembly. But until then, putting the gatorback belt on should solve the problem for another 5-10k miles

Think of it this way ;
Take a tire standing up straight the way it would be on the truck.
Imagine that as the pulley.
Now think of the ground the tire is standing on as the belt.
Now tilt the top of the tire while looking at the contact point between it and the ground.
One edge of the tire will be in contact with the ground ,the other will not.
