No muffler?

I want to take off my muffler because it's in such plain view and I was wondering about the performance after. I was told it may loose torque but I don't know for sure. And will it sound to ricey?

What about power? I don't care if it stays the same I just can't have it going down.

I cant speak for a 3.0....but...As long as it actually has a tail pipe....it should be little or no loss of power. I ran my truck staight piped for a while, but my exhaust ended right after the last cat. Lots of power loss, and it also had increased fuel consumption.

Cut the muff off, and add a piece of pipe, and call it good.

My 06 sounded badass without the muffler when I was putting my borla on. Just straight pipe it out the back and you shouldnt lose any power.

I used to run straight pipe out the back. I ran dual pipes (after the cats) into 2 foot long 3 inch diameter tips. It was pretty quiet at idle and had a throaty sound mid range. If you revved the engine to 4500-5000 rpm, then you could hear a little rice.

I since cut the duals off and now have it dumped under the bed, right before the axle, with NO turndown. It sounds really throaty echoing under the bed. If you dump it under the cab you'll hear it inside the cab quite a bit.

Overall, I never felt a loss it power no matter what setup I had.

I had mine like that on the trip to my paps house to get a tool to put my flomaster40 on. It sounded ricey, then I had the muffler si do dumped right past the cab, ricey. Then I ran it out the side with 3 inch tips and it sounds damn good I think. Has a nice low rumble to it. It does sound ricey up over 2500 but has a real nice growl at 3000 and up. I love it.

X2! Atleast get a muffler put. There's a little 5-speed Ranger on campus with (I'm guessing) his exhaust chopped right after the cats. Sounds like complete shiet.

i have no cats and a glasspack with the stock tailpipe. it sounds perty good for a v6 and i noticed a huuuuuuuge power increase with no cats because one of them started falling apart and i had 9psi of backpressure at 2500rpm.

I have a super 44 on mine and I like it. 2.5" pipes with 3.5" tips. I used to have straights, but had a si/do flow 44 installed replacing the "Y" I had. Sounds good...
