Oil leak diagnosis

Hey guys,

I have an oil leak on 3.0 2003 b3000. I'm not sure where its coming from exactly, I've attached some pictures to help. My first thought was a rear main seal since the oil pan and I believe the bell housing were caked on oil. My second though was maybe I made a mistake an didn't remove the seal from the oil filter, I am still in the process of checking that, there is oil residue on the bottom of the oil filter but not on the top. My final thought was that it was a head gasket since there does seem to be oil leaking above the oil filter , where the dip stick is (picture attached). The drops themselves are coming from that cylindrical part on the side of the oil pan. Anyone know what steps I could take to figure it out or what it could be? I am a novice mechanic at best so I'm not sure exactly what I should do. Thanks for the help!
