truck accelerates temporarily with foot off gas HELP ME
2004 5spd ranger 3.0 205,000 no matter the temperature, if I have the rpm’s under 2k ish (the lower, the worse the problem) the engine doesn’t stop accelerating for 5 seconds or so. And if I push the clutch in, the rpm’s will blip +200 ish rpm’s and drop normally. I’ve done 02s, tps iac maf 2 times. With my scanner tool, bank one ltft is at 30.5, b2 is at 8 ish. Which is good. only at idle. Driving, they level out pretty close to each other. (that I think that is a separate issue with the manifold, gasket, I’ve got some. Possibly also an exhaust leak from doing clutch. The problem started when I realized my IAC was worn out for a long time, and finally gave out. And my tps was hanging up so I had bad rev hang. The kicker is the fact that when I have the rpm’s above 3 k, it’s fine. No hanging up or anything. TPS reads 17.2 at idle. Maf is 3.5(ish) grams. HELP

Ranger 3L acceleration when taking foot off gas
I have the same problem 2008 3L manual. 0n taking my foot off the accelerator it runs at 1500rpm for 10s then drop. Let me know if you solve
I had a mechanic look at it. Checked the idle unit mass flow, manifold leaks PCV etc but no luck solving. I read somewhere it was an electronic control code line to ensure it met emission control regs but having vacuum on the PCV to prevent engine emissions while decelerating but no idea if this is true.

l think the replies to this R-F thread (where they talk about emission controls may be where l got that from "RPMs go up when clutch is pressed and when in neutral"

Guys I have a strange problem in my 2001 Ford Ranger. Whenever I press the clutch down or whenever the car is coasting in neutral, the RPMS go up into the 3000-4000 range until I come to a stop. It happens while I'm driving and most of the time it goes away when I turn it off and on again. Additionally, this seems to happen more often on hot days but can sometimes happen on cooler days. Any ideas on where to look to solve this problem? Thanks

In normal operation on a manual trans vehicle the idle should stay above 1,000 maybe 1,200 when moving and the clutch is pushed down or when coasting in Neutral

......In normal operation on a manual trans vehicle the idle should stay above 1,000 maybe 1,200 when moving and the clutch is pushed down or when coasting in Neutral..This is an emissions requirement
Once speedometer is below 5MPH then warm engine idle should drop down to the 700rpm range, depends on the engine size"
back to me (Ned)
unfortunately this seems to continue for 10sec (1200 to 1500 rpm) even when l release the clutch and re-engage the engine

Sorry for messing up your thread with all the large font etc, numerous posts(l am not making any friends - new to forum). but there are half a dozen or so threads on R-F which suggest other people are having a similar problem. but as of now l haven't seen a fix to the problem posted. l know there is the logical step wise diagnostic procedure of check codes, Idle control module, sticking cables/throttle body, vacuum leaks etc. but unfortunately after paying a mechanic to do all this and still having the problem l am interested if someone can solveit, as it seems a regular 5 speed manual 3L problem. So hopefully one of these people who have had this problem and solved can post.
Good luck on finding the solution.
My uneducated thoughts are it is a sensor related to emission control or the code logic for emissions control.
One poster suggested redownloading the cpu? control progam form Ford (but as the problem appears to be reported for Rangers from 2001 to 2008 this seemed a long shot to throw another $100 at the problem)
