my truck is retarded...

ok so recently my truck has been acting wierd. wenever i start it, it shoots up to about 3000 rpm then settles right down to about 1000 at idle. i didnt really worry about it cuz its been running fine otherwise. but tonite, it didnt settle. it wouldnt go any lower than 3000rpm! and it was wierd cuz i didnt even have to give it gas and i would accelerate. all i had to do was let out the clutch and it would go. any clue as to wut the hell is wrong with my truck? its like my throttle is stuck open or something...

well I'm not to sure but maybe either your pedal is sticking a little bit or the throttle linkage is sticking a little bit might need some wd40.

Sounds like your IAC valve sticking. Try unplugging it while the RPM's are hanging and see if it changes. That or pull it off and clean it out really good, should help.

It's the round metal thing on the side of the intake, right passed the throttle body.

I too would say to look at the IAC first. If that checks out.. change the temp sensor **that the PCM uses**. (not the one for the guage)

I would have never guessed a temp sensor to cause such a high idle. But it happened to me on a saturn. Stupid car would idle at 2700 rpms (manual tranny)

Is the IAC basically the same thing as a TPS? I know the TPS on my truck was dirty and did the same thing, but after I took it off and cleaned it with Electronics cleaner, it fixed it.
