Anyone have experience with these two codes showing up? When the transmission warms up, it starts “sticking” to gears. It eventually shifts but sometimes it’ll just stay in the given gear and feels like it’s struggling to move. Checked the fluid and it seems good. Considering ordering a rebuilt transmission if there isn’t any other solution.

truck specs: 2000 Ford Ranger, 3.0L v6, automatic

Welcome to the forum

Ford Codes found here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...II_codes.shtml

Never "Google" codes, look them up on a full list first, so you will know what codes the computer did NOT use, which can help you find the reason for the codes it DID use

And its good to post the definitions YOU are using, because NO ONE has then all memorized........lol, and you may have got the wrong definition

P0732 Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
P1756 Shift Solenoid B Performance

Just as a heads up, code that start P0 are generic, all automakers use these, if its P1 then it maker specific, in this case Ford, so GM's P1756 might be different

So P0732 is not really helpful, because you already know there is a shifting issue
P1756 is more helpful it means the solenoid 2(B) valve is sticking, its not wiring disconnected or shorted because you haven't got one of these codes:

P0755 Shift Solenoid B Circuit Malfunction
P0758 Shift Solenoid B Electrical

But its odd you didn't get one of these
P0756 Shift Solenoid B Performance or Stuck Off
P0757 Shift Solenoid B Stuck On
P0759 Shift Solenoid B Intermittent

How many miles on the transmission now?

If its under 200k then you may just want to redo the valve body, over 200k and its rebuild time, even though they can go 300k
Also do you have a history of maintenance for trans?

You can use a 1995 to 2008, 3.0l automatic, matching 2wd or 4x4, from a Ranger 3.0l or Mazda B3000 in your 2000 Ranger, plug and play
So a 4R44E or a 5R44E from any of those year, must be from 3.0l and must match your drivetrain 2wd or 4x4, not possible to convert

Thank you for schooling me on proper forum etiquette. The definitions you gave are the correct definitions, I used Forscan to read the codes.

The truck has its original transmission and the truck has well over 200k miles. My family and I use it as a work truck to beat around and haul stuff when we need it. Also, I do not have any maintenance records on the trans, I've owned it for about 4 years and have changed the transmission oil twice I think.

Given your advice, I think i'm going to go ahead and just order a rebuilt transmission and throw it in one of these weekends.

Yes, good plan, or see how much a local shop charges for rebuild, then if there is an issue is local service

Over 200k and the clutches and bands(brakes) are getting worn just like clutches(manual trans) and brakes on the outside do
New torque converter of course either way
