I have 06 ranger sport with approx. 8000 miles and noticed on very cold morning that the power steering makes a noise similiar to a noise when the fluid level is low. The fluid level is ok. Does anyone with a late model truck have this same noise or have taken the truck back to dealer for checking.

my 07 doesnt make the noise at all even when its cold out

my 98 didnt really make that noise either besides when the fluid was cold might want to have that checked out but the power steering on our trucks is loud just something I guess I got used to.

 

Usually that noise means the pump is starting to wear out.

 

Mine quieted right up when I replaced the fluid with synthetic ATF.

 

Was there air bubbles in the fluid at all, if theres air in the fluid it will be noisy.

 

i have an 06 too, same thing. The power steering pump is noisy.

 

mine squeaks/whines when at a full locked turn but other then that its quiet
