Question about intake tube

OK so I have a check engine light on and cannot et a code reader yet. On my intake there is a breather hose coming out of my valve cover and into my intake. The piece going into my intake is broken off and sometimes pops off leaking oil into the engine compartment. I think that is what my check engine light is on for, at least until I can verify.

What is the electrical plug in next to that piece on the intake? Can that be damaged by this breather thing coming off?

Also, I have had to add a quart of oil every other week since this issue. Today at the gas station I noticed a yellowish slime on my filler cap. What the hell is that, just moisture??

Thanks for the help, and Im VERY glad to have found this site!!!

I actually bought my ranger used, and it didn't have the recirc tube from the valve cover to the intake tube....it wasn't there. I drove it like that for like 10k. No probs. Now, your MAF sensor might be dirty. That's your Mass Airflow Sensor.

Quart of oil every two weeks? Yellowish slime? How's your oil look?? milky?? if it is, you've got water in there. I'd start looking at your headgaskets.

When I check my oil, it looks great on the dip stick! Can I use brake clean to clean my MAF?

I do have a stuck lifter, if that helps anything? Im gong to track down some of that sea foam stuff another member on heres uggested.

I bought it used and it has always idles rough, until you give it the slightes bit of gas, then it is completely smooth!

That oil breather being off is affecting your vacuum. That intake tube needs a good seal after the MAF. Fix that, it should idle and run better.
