Question junk yard

So I took my heads to the machine shop and they told me that they were cracked in a couple different places and so I went to the junkyard to find better heads and I found a pair of remain Head sitting in one of the vehicles so I grabbed the heads off of that engine my question is is it better to grab the Cam shaft that went with those heads or does it matter?

Welcome to the forum

Always good to include year and engine model with questions

1995 Ranger 3.0l engine<<<<< is that correct?

Very odd for 3.0l Vulcan heads to crack, possible just odd, the 2.9l and 4.0l were prone to cracking if overheated
No, 3.0l OHV engine cams are all the same

Have the new heads checked as well

I apologize it's a 1995 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6. When I went to the machine shop to go pick them up they showed me where the cracks where one of the heads was cracked in 3 different places and the other head was had a single crack on it. So I went to the junkyard to find better heads that weren't correct and I found 2 remain heads. Even the valve gaskets had color. But I tested the new heads by turning them upside-down and put fuel iover the valves to check the seal on the valves, had no leaks. But I just needed to if use the lifters and cam out of my truck. Could their possibly be a problem?

No problems, those are pre-1999 3.0l heads, so original valve train will be fine, even it it was 1999-2008 head it would be fine with 1995 valve train, lol

Many use new lifters because old ones can "collapses", i.e. broken internal spring or clogged internal valves, it doesn't "hurt" anything just causes that annoying "tick, tick, tick" noise at idle

3.0l rebuild article seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/ford-3-0l-build/

Outside of changing the valve STEM size(not valve size) in 1999 the engine didn't change much from 1986 thru 2008
1992 and up all have roller lifters
