Ranger no shift, oil pressure loss, dies, won't start

I was driving my 1999 ford ranger with the radio up when I noticed it wasn't shifting. I look at my dash and my oil drops and jumps back up. I let off the bass and it dies. It had been sitting in my garage for a couple months now. When I go to start it I hear a click then rapid clicks. The noise come drone the starte and the crank won't move with a breaker bar on it.

Welcome to the forum

Sorry to read this.
You have a spun main bearing, engine is seized and must be pulled out, whats the oil look and smell like?

Needs a full rebuild but might be less expensive to find a used 1998 to 2008 3.0l Vulcan engine, it's a gamble but 3.0l Vulcans were very reliable engines.
You just need the "Long Block"(block and heads), you will(must) use your intake and exhaust manifolds, also all the other bolt on accessories, so the wiring will match up

I doubt the transmission was hurt.

If a crank bearing starts to wear down then the Gap between bearing and crank gets larger, this causes a drop in oil pressure, at some point the bearing will "spin" in its cap, this cuts off the oil hole that cools and lubes the bearing, bearing super heats and starts to weld itself to crank and cap, which causes a high load on the engine, which is why trans wasn't shifting.
As soon as you let RPMs drop the engine would die and seize, bearing welded to crank and cap.

The saying of " if its too loud your too old " used to be my motto when I was much younger and could still hear.

Now that I am much older I understand that loud music can not only hurt your hearing it can seriously hurt your vehicle.

I was in a 1978 TA with a very loud and powerful old school Rockford Fosgate setup,I was parked in my parents driveway jamming out after a recent snowfall had iced over.

The vibrations from the bass caused my once nice TA to slide down the hill into a ditch causing thousands of dollars in damage.

I was pissed then but now I find it funny as hell . LOL

Anyways sorry to hear about your issue. I just hope your able to repair your truck and get back on the road.

Yeh, it is a tough one, no burnt oil means it happened fast, not long term wear, may be oil pump or oil filter failure.

Could be trans issue in that the front pump/torque converter are locked up, BUT......if truck rolls when taken out of Park then not likely

You can't remove the torque converter bolts unless you can turn the engine, so no way to test for that with engine IN the vehicle.

Remove all the spark plugs and see if any are damaged, not likely but you want no compression when trying to turn the engine in any case.

Try rotating crank in both directions.
