slow crank and misfire

i have trouble starting my truck after it has set for a day. long slow crank with a mis but once its started it runs fine. first thing i did was change the fuel filter which i do yearly anyways. also tested the battery which was good. no engine codes. one thing i did notice when i replaced the fuel filter, when i went to prime the fuel, i turned the key about 6 times and couldnt here the fuel pump at all. it started fine after priming but like i said i change my filter once a year and ive always been able to hear the pump kick on so wondering if the fuel pump is getting weak. any thoughts?

if you can't hear the fuel pump then something is wrong. either the pump itself is going bad or the pump is no longer getting constant power as it should. The easiest way to test that is to put a test light or multimeter on the fuel pump's connection. if it lights up every time then it's the pump that's bad. If it's getting intermittent power then it's something else.
