Supercharger for the 3.0?
Supercharger for the 3.0?
I stopped by the local race car shop today and a guy that works there said he has a supercharger for the 3.0 that he'd sell me for a couple of hundred dollars and then he asked how good I am with fabbing stuff up. Well, not bad considering I have a badass 7.3 Powerstroke- there was some fabbing there. He said that he'd get some pictures and bring them into work later this week. I am not even sure what brand it is or what needs to be fabbed up...
Anyone ever done this to the 3.0? Pros vs. Cons? Think my mileage will go down?
It is a '94 Ranger Splash with the 3.0L 5 spd, 2WD.

There were/are a lot of old threads regarding superchargers on here a few years ago.
The general consensus was that they were not worth the money and/or aggravation.
Hence they went out of production. So good luck finding any parts you may need for one.
You're better off with a 4.0 or V8 swap as they will gain you as much, or more power.

Whipple used to make a supercharger for the 3.0. If it's from the 90s that's probably what it is. Whippled 3.0s usually push about the same HP as a stock 4.0 SOHC.
2 pieces of advice:
Don't run more than 5psi unless you build the engine.
Do lots of reasearch
