I have an 01 3.0 v6 4x2 auto Ranger Edge. I lost reverse yesterday, haven't checked if its the reverse band yet. I believe this transmission is ready to die, its had its issues since I've bought it. I've been itching to put a manual in it for years and I feel like this is my excuse to. I've read that in the 2001 3.0 models you have to stick to a manual trans that came out of another 2001 3.0, that you cant get a manual from any other year. Does anyone have experience with swapping from auto to manual in an 01 with a 3.0? Is it worth the hassle or should I just put another auto in it? Can someone link me to a forum where everything is laid out on this swap? Any tips are appreciated as it would be my first time swapping a tranny.
