Swapping engines ,3.0

Hi folks , I have a 93 ford ranger with a new motor and a 98 with a blown motor. The transmission in the 98 was rebuilt a year ago but the motor went out a week ago. The 93 has a newish motor that has only 20,000 miles on it that I put in 3 years ago. Both trucks have the 3.0. I want swap motors but there is a difference with the intake between the two. Question is can I take the 3.0 out of the 93 and put it in a 98?

Welcome to the forum

Yes, you can but.................there will be a few parts to swap
You will need to swap over the 1998 intakes(upper and lower) WITH fuel rail and injectors, to the 1993 engine
Also pull out distributor from 1993 3.0l and replace it with cam sensor-synchro unit that's in the 1998 3.0l now, or use a new one, as these do wear out
You will need to swap over timing chain cover to get Crank sensor mount, also use the 1998 crank pulley on the 1993 to get crank sensor tone wheel

You are basically doing a long block swap, block and heads from the 1993, then bolt everything else on from the 1998

3.0l used distributor from 1991 thru 1994, 1995 to 2008 used crank sensor and cam sensor to go distributorless
Rangers used 35psi fuel pressure thru 1997, in 1998 they change to 55psi and returnless fuel system
