Thermostat?

this is probably a stupid ? but i bought a new ranger. well new to me its a 2000 3.0 2wd i know the thermostat needs replacing on it. my question is i lost my haynes book, and i dont remember which way the thermostat sits in the truck. cause when i opened up the housing, it didnt have one.the owner before must have took it out for some reason. so i just need to know which way it sits spring side inside the thermostat housing or inside manifold. thanks alot!

Spring side towards the motor and the pointed side towards the radiator if I remember correctly.

You mean the tiny hole in the disc ?
There is no up or down as far as that is concerned.
Just make sure the spring side with the pellet in it is toward the engine.
