Timing chain case coolant leeak fix.
I have the common coolant leak on my 2004 XLT 4X2 3.0L. I don't have a lot of time or money at this moment to fix it.It may be a dumb question but, Has anyone tried fixing this problem with Block Seal?
I am not that familiar with the 3.0 but I don't think you should have a coolant leak from the timing chain cover. It can leak oil. If you have a coolant leak in that area, you might want to check out the thermostat housing. It can leak coolant.
Block seal should not be used to seal a gasket unless it is an emergency for temporary use. The use of block seal can leave deposits in areas you don't want it and interfere with the efficiency of the cooling system. Some block seals are worse than others.

Thank you for the info. It didn't sound right to me either. I looked it up and it is common in the 3.0l. I have already replaced the radiator, and water pump. There is no coolant around the thermostat housing. I kind of felt like the block sealant isn't a good solution. This is a pretty big job and I don't have the money for a shop to do it and I don't really have the time. The only other option it may be is the lower intake gasket. Have you seen any problems with these?
