Vibration and Squeaking Sounds
Vibration and Squeaking Sounds
I have an '07 3.0L Ranger, and am having 2 separate sounds that are worrying me and wondering if there is anyone who might hear alarm bells go off when I describe them, and might be able to help ID problem.
Not long ago I was hearing a hum sound that is getting more pronounced, and usually happens when I'm slowing down from higher speeds, and moreso going downhill. I'd say vibration, but its doesn't make the truck shudder, more like of something is rubbing against the tire (but thats not it). The other thing that just recently surfaced is a squeaking at low speeds - from start off to about 15km/hr, and then it fades away. Searching online so far, I wondering if it is a U-Joint problem, or maybe something simpler like an imbalance or brake issue. I had a wheel bearing go 2 months ago, so I'm familiar with that sound, and this is a little different.
I don't have facilities to look at it myself, and don't have a local mechanic yet, so I was hoping to have an idea narrowed down before I take it somewhere. Any help is appreciated...

Hello tavescon , Not sure but the humming sound that you describe , sounds like it could be yourtires . Check your universal joints on your drive shaft . The squeeking sound could be your serpentine belt .It may look good .But they stretch . try replacing it .
