I've been wanting an answer to that for quite a while. Way to go splitting it down the middle.

I just ordered my U/D pulley from http://stuffforyourranger.com/ so Rouge is where I'm going.

Rogue is known as a 3.0 guru. People don't realize he owns a 4.0 SOHC Explorer. He's doing pretty good with the mpg's on it with his tunes.

87 tune needs to be the MPG tune.

It will grow/change as your mods grow but $ per HP gained is a personal choice for sure. If you start looking at parts- A hypothetical scenario is an intake gains you 6 HP and the X Cal II gets another 2 HP from it. In this case the base HP gain will start growing.

On my 4.0 I remember a few weeks after installing it, thinking it really didn't do anything. Luckily you can turn it off, which I did. Then it was - "yeah, it's slower now" and I reinstalled it. Thats something you won't do with an underdrive pulley or catback exhaust because of the shear time it takes to install/uninstall. It keeps the X Call II honest.

Maybe with next years tax returns I can justify buying a tuner. By then I should have pullies, exhuast, and intake on.

the tuner is more than just for adding HP. You can read and clear codes, you can check out whats going on with your engine. it does what you would end up bring your car into the shop for. You can find out whats going on with your engine with just simply plugging the proggrammer in.

I have gone to several web sites, Rogues, BamaChips,Jusenesmodified and a couple of others and have sent e-mail or filled out a contact us describing what I have wanted to find out before I buy and I have yet to hear back from anyone. Not sure what the problem is. I am looking for mpg on an 05 Ranger Ext. Cab 3.0 with automatic. So far I have added a K&N Air filter cone system and a Gibson exhaust. I am thinking about the underdrive pulley and an electric fan. Then a Bama tune - my question was what kind of mpg can I expect to get from the tune with these items on the truck? What kind of hp and torque gain can I expect with the economy tune, the torque tune, and the HP tune? I am ready to buy from the company and or person that helps me with my questions and provides me the service. Somebody out there want to help?

I don't know what I have gained with the exhaust and air intake yet, just did them and filled up the tank. I like both of them. Nice mods. Not getting bad mpg, its a 2wd truck with stock tires and is getting 20.7 around town and 23-25.7 hwy. Would like to get up to that around town and low 30's hwy. Is this possible?

Thanks, Bob
