Like I said. I wouldn't even do this to my 4.0. I almost did then I realized then I wouldn't have much more than a stock Tacoma and less then a Frontier. I say just throw an exhaust on it to make it sound good and save your cash or spend it on a toy.

Uhhh no. Its the plain truth. Rangers make the least power out of any truck out right now. Also I got smoked by my buddies stock 4wd Double Cab Taco and I had intake and exhaust. I was standing still compared to him. If you want something fast get something fast or get something with a better engine.

 

So you think. Go test drive one with a 4.0, you will HATE that 3.0

Also a 5spd swap if yours is a automatic will help you off the line if you can drive on. also giving us specs on your truck would help. Just a tip :)

 

Yeah when i first test drove my current truck with a 4.0 i was like holy crap i actually move when the gas is pressed to the floor, unlike my old 3.0 that didnt go any fast it just kinda sounded like it was gonna blow up if i floored it.

You could always do a cam. But then your pcm will have to be reprogrammed so it doesnt throw misfire codes

 

I call BS on that. 230-323 horsepower to 20somthing.... umm yeah the modded 3.0 will walk a stock 4.o.

Gears will help some but a supercharger will help the most check out Thomas Knight thomas knight : turbo upgrades + superchargers

I think Im retarded but I like my 3.0 sure Id like more power but dont we all... I like it because its reliable and I get about the same gas mileage as a 4.6 or a 5.4 on the highway.... if even better. On RangerPowerSports theres a lot more performance How to, on here they are more Lifted suspension oriented.

 

yeah if you think a blown 3.0L doesnt walk a 4.0L your a moron. and the 4.0L have 207 to the crank. and a blown 3.0L will have 220-323 to the wheels. and i like my 3.0L. And yeah the new tacoma x runners have 245 hp but uh they aren't that quick. sucks that you get smoked by frontiers and tacos. i have held a decent amount. i cant hold an x-runner though.

 

No kidding....i drove my buddy's 3.0....talk about 3.slow!!! what a piece. It had the power of a dang 4 banger. and his gas mileage aint no better than mine! I love my 4.0L. True,

it may not have the HP that a tacoma and nissan has, but i wouldnt buy one of those japanese (or whereever they're made) peices of crap anyday!! My 4.0 has all the payload and power as well as torque that ill ever need!

 

what type of 3.0L does he have a ext. cab auto? i love how everyone considers the 3.0L a piece. its funny cause im gonna be seeing a lot of the 4.0's in my rear view mirror (oh wait i already do). And this motor also helped save ford...
