whistling noise
whistling noise
i have a 2000 ranger 4x4, when i start to drive around (10-30mph) a loud whistling noise comes from my engine, i thought it was the fan belt so i got a new one and the whistling didn't stop, does anyone know what is causing the noise??
Get cheap mechanic's stethoscope.
On the passenger side of the engine , just in front of the firewall , there is a camshaft syncronizer.
It looks like a shortened version of the old style distributors.
Place the probe against the shaft of it.
If you here any screeching noise , it needs to be replaced ASAP.
This unit drives the oil pump and is a known failure part. When it goes , so does your engine.
Note:
DO NOT purchase the cheaper DORMAN unit .
Buy an original FORD replacement.
