You cant kill a 3.0... You can kill a 4.0 easy.. I work at a ford dealer and 4.0's just dont hold up esp the SOHC ones.. 120k there done.. Ive seen 3.0 Tauras's and Rangers come in with 185k for a service LOL

I like my little truck, it does all I want it too. Have only floored it once, to clean the carbon out and test the mods. I thought it was decent.

going from a 2.2 s10 to a 3.0 ranger was a big step up for me in power, plus the gas mileage would be better in a 3.0. and, i didnt relise how much more power the 4.0 is until after i got it. but im satisfied with my 3.0. if i did it again, i would buy a 4.0. but im happy now.

If an owner of a 2.3, a 3.0 and a 4.0 all discussed the pro and cons of each I bet in the end it would be a tie.

I must say that i do actually like my 3.0 a lot. Yeah, it doesn't seem to realy build power until 3000 rpm, but if you stay in that area it pulls pretty good. I have JBA Headers though, and that mod alone gave me 2 mpg more and I gained a lot of power. Coming next are pulleys, escape throttle body, and maybe a Morana Cam! :)

You can do the same thing with the 4.0SOHC provided you find a good deal on the parts and can mill/weld your own intake plenum

I bought one 'cause as a homeowner you need a small truck. I didn't need a damn racecar. I managed to put 16K miles on it in over three years.

Not pathetic, smart if anything. I've done my pizza delivery days getting 3k mile oil changes every three or four weeks but it's nothing to brag about once you get older and start to realize that everything in life is not a contest.

I put less than 5k miles on my truck in 11 months but probably paid more money in fixing it than you did in payments and gas this year. Nothing to brag about but that's what I bought it for =]

.......to beat the snot out of.
