Considering trading for a ranger thoughts and suggestions

Currently I own a 2011 f250 with a 6.2l gas engine 2 wheel drive and towing gears I get 10mpg no matter what and the current gas prices are killing me I figure I can ether spend more at the pump or more on a payment and get a newer truck,

I use my truck for primary commuting and pulling my 16' pontoon boat but I do on occasion pull a 16foot utility trailer hauling as much as 5000lb with my tractor maybe twice a year other then that it's just 3500lb single axle trailers my quistion is will the new ranger handle the loads I plan on throwing at it comfortably or should I look at a f150 instead i used to own a Chevy S10 and whenever I towed heavy loads it was scetchy as hell any thoughts or suggestions please and I apologize in advance for my Grammer

Welcome to the forum

The 2019-2022 Ranger will pull your loads with trailer package option, that puts them up to 7,500lbs weight limit

The 4cyl turbo 2.3l will give best MPG with trailer and without, the 2WD has best MPG if you don't need the 4WD version

For full time towing the F-series will always win out for more weight, its a full size truck, and even with the smaller V6 MPG will NOT be lower than Ranger with or without a trailer

Hm. Without a trailer, but fairly well loaded (no overall vehicle weighing was done), the 2WD 2019 ranger I have, with 4 cyl turbocharged engine, consistently gets 25 to 28 mpg highway, depending on speed, temperature, headwinds etc. With no headwind, I can get that at 70-75 mph. That drops in winter with denser cold air.

City driving is lower, and depends on temperature, length of trip, etc. Usually 20-22mpg..

If you ever get anywhere close to 10 mpg in a recent Ranger, and are not towing a heavy load, go in for service, something is really wrong.

I like, and recommend, the Ranger.
