I have a 94 ranger and I bought a reman 4.0 for it. I went to put on the oil filter mount (so the filter will hang vertically) and there are pipe threads sticking out of it for a screw on filter?How does (or does) that threaded piece come out? My mount has a brass male piece that should screw into where the threaded piece is sticking out.

 

Does it not simply unscrew?

 

Yes, should just unscrew, I think Aerostar 4.0l used horizontal oil filter, so that may be what this 4.0l came from

yeah, it unscrewed. I had to get it with vise grips and that little piece is now trash. Mostly I was concerned about my warranty. I just wanted to be sure it came out and not force anything. Thanks
