2000 4.0 Coolant in #3 Cylindar

Folks,

I have a 2000 4.0 that runs a little rough on startup. Clears up after about 30 seconds. My mechanic did a leak-down on it and has determined that there is coolant seeping into #3 cylinder. Don't know if it is a cracked block, cracked head, or faulty head gasket. Looking for write-ups or videos on head removal and any other advice from the Members on how to tackle this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Douglas

Won't be a cracked block
If its ever been overheated then cracked head or bad head gasket

Just a bit of wrench work to do the heads, have to do both
Need a torque wrench for reassembly
Head and intake gasket set/kit
new head bolts, can't reuse this type
new coolant, and oil

Both heads should go to machine shop to be tested for cracks, a pressure test, then cleaned and surfaced if OK
Gasket kit will come with 12 new valve guide seals, need a valve spring compressor to install them, but machine shop will do that for a few dollars more

Take lots of pictures of wire and hose locations for reassembly

You have a 4.0l OHV engine in a 2000 Ranger, 2001 and up used the 4.0l SOHC which is quite different

Google: ford 4.0l ohv head replacement

3 videos come up
