2000 Ranger 3.0L to 4.0L swap
+1 ^^^^
Better to sell the 3.0l Ranger and buy a 4.0l Ranger, cheaper than the swap
Swapping out a head(or both) on the 3.0l is much easier than the swap
Now a V8(5.0l) swap is another story, same work: new engine, trans, computer and wiring harness
But then you have a V8 Ranger, something the factory never made so you can't just go out and buy one

237,000. The heads have ctacks too so id replace both heads. Heads are 350.00 a piece plus gaskets bla bla bla. So id just assume spend 1k and have more power but im not apposed to keeping 3.0
I pulled engine 5 k ago and put all new gaskets in it. Replaced all sensors with ford o.e. and replace valve seals too. I seen then the valves were worn but no point in fixing with head issues. Well at yhat time head gasket leaking. After repairs i noticed it would pressure cooling system on cold start then be ok once hot. It will also randomly run rough on start up do to coolant in cylinders so heads are needed. Then what about rings? The bore is beautiful still cross hatching in it ...
