2004 Ford Ranger XLT V6 4 L 4 x 4 died while driving will not restart

Good afternoon everyone
I have an 04 Ford ranger 4 x 4 4 L which died while driving down the highway felt like it ran out of gas but I still have half a tank and the fuel pump was done last year.
things I’ve done so far was to depress the fuel shut off switch on the passenger side under the glove box. didn’t work

Opened up the airbox and sprayed some gasoline Still didn’t fire

cleaned all ground contacts and battery connections.

Pulled and blew out wiring harness on the firewall

Hit the gas tank with a hammer

right now I have no engine light that comes on anymore however it was on when I first had the problem.
The only lights to come on the dashboard now are the seatbelt and battery lights nothing else lights up anymore.

looked at all the fuses under the hood they seem fine.
any other ideas?

Welcome to the forum

So engine turns over OK, i.e. starter motor works

No CEL(check engine light) means the computer is not on, so no spark and no fuel

Computer is powered up by ignition switch turning on the PCM relay in engine fuse box, this sends power from fuse 11 in engine fuse box, to the computer(PCM)
PCM relay powers most engine components as well, so if it failed engine would just die

You can get your 2004 owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
It will have the fuse box layouts

2004 was the first year of the Digital Dash(HEC) so most of the lights are operated by the computer, so if its OFF.................very few lights on dash

I think the Wiper Relays in the engine fuse box are the same model as PCM relay, so you could use one of those to test
It should "click" with key on, so if you can get a helper to turn the key on while your finger is on that relay you should feel it close
Or with key on unplug the PCM relay and you should hear it "click" open, and then "click" closed when you put it back in

Long shot would be the SJB(smart junction box), its in the passenger kick panel, cab fuse box is part of it
SJB sends the voltage to the PCM relay to close it(when key is turned on)
And SJB wire connectors are known to corrode, causing all sorts of odd issues

So I tried switching the relays I found it one of the fuses I had put in the wrong slot but now all the lights come on so we are good with that part however the engine cranks over it’s just not firing. I did the 50-50 test adding fuel By pulling off the air cleaner box.
I grab the spare spark plug and pinched it between the metal hinge on the hood as I am by myself and when I turned over I seen no spark so what would be next?
