2010 Ranger FX4 4.0 Barometric Pressure Sensor

Hi Guys,

I'm at my wit's end here trying to find this sensor.
The truck idles rough and feels like its missing at lower RPM'S. The scanner gives my a P 1107 code which is, apparently a Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage.
I cannot find this sensor.
Can someone please help me find it?

2010 Ford Ranger FX4 4.0 V6

Thank you for any help you can give me with this!

Dave

These are the codes that came up from the truck. Anybody have any idea where I should start with this?

I wasnt aware that the later model 4.0s even had a baro sensor...i cant even find any of these codes pop up on Identifix for these models with 4.0. Im questioning the validity of this code scanner. Try a different code scanner or have auto parts store scan and see what codes show up. Forscan is a free application for phone/computer and all you have to do is get the connector. It can show you real time data and much better info than that $15 code scanner. Works on any Ford.

Also, something is not right. The 3 connections going to firewall (PCM/engine computer), missing the plastic cap that protects these wires. Was the PCM replaced? Check and make sure the ground is secured also for the PCM. The ground is to the right of that connector. Its the G107 ground and is important for Mass Air Flow/IAT sensor, PCM and other important stuff. Again the Forscan software can tell you the real time values of these sensors and will help immensely with troubleshooting.

More common name is MAP sensor and some years did have these, in other years it was a calculated number based on MAF sensor data and throttle position

Yes, those codes are odd

P1000 just means battery was disconnected and it will self clear after a few days of driving

The map sensor is the black plastic “square “ piece screwed into the throttle body opposite the cables. Before you replace it, pull it out and clean it carefully with some electric spray cleaner. Mine had a little fiber in it that was gumming up the works. At least it’s an easy replacement if need be. Good luck

I dont know Tim, im not seeing a MAP sensor here. The 2.3 engine for this year has a MAP sensor, but not seeing anything for a 4.0. None of my 4.0's ever included a MAP sensor either.

Where exactly are you seeing it? I drew this up and labeled with what i know.

Latest wiring diagrams I have are for 2008 4.0l Ranger and don't see a MAP sensor hook up to the PCM(computer)

So could be code reader is goofing up, as the other codes are also not likely to show up

Thank you all very much for your comments and suggestions, I really appreciate your knowledge and advice.

Regarding the FORscan unit, does this look like the proper APP for Android?

Thank you again for all your help!

I'm going to have to do a lot of research on this program to try to figure out the ins and outs of how this stuff works.

Cylinder #4 spark plug. $2.49 at O'Reilly's.The truck has only 29,000 miles on it and the old plug looked really good but I figured that since Forscan saw any issue with a #4 misfire that swapping out the plug for a new one wouldn't hurt and like magic, the truck is back to running smoothly. So, my cheapo scanner told me the barometric pressure sensor was faulty and in the end, thanks to the guidance I received here, a single, new spark plug appears to have solved the issue.Thank you everyone who helped me, your knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated!

Good job! Yep Forscan is great. I'd clear those codes and double check your battery and charging system. Perhaps battery was run down that caused all those other erroneous codes.

That's pretty low miles for that truck! Keep her running!

Thank you !
Yes, the battery has a really peculiar thing going on. It's definitely low - usually sits in the high 11 Volt range and sits in the mid 14V range when running. The part that's confusing is that it appears to have no issues whatsoever cranking the engine at sub 12V readings. I've checked with three different multimeters so I'm confident the battery's resting voltage is far too low but for the life of me I can't figure out how it cranks that motor over without any problems whatsoever!
