4.0 ranger vs 4.0 tacoma

Would the 4.0 ranger be as fast or as close to as fast as the 05 tacoma 4.0s, considering they are both stock? The Tacoma looks like a lot heavier truck but it still flys. I drive my girlfriends all the time and if your 4.0 rangers feel that fast, I am jealous as hell. The tacoma makes 236/266 in hp and torque and the ranger makes 207/240. Considering the weight difference I would think that the ranger feels almost as quick.

It'd be close, but Taco would win. But if you raced one of the older ones with the 3.4L you'd kill 'em.

I've driven many new Tacos, and raced a few older ones. I used to work at a Toyo dealer. My best friend has an '04 with the 3.4.

Did I say that? No, but I've driven enough to know they have more power.

The 05-present tacomas put out like 50 more horses than the 04's down

Having owned two SOHC rangers both auto and stick, and Having test driven three 05-06-07 Tacomas all V6's one with a Stick, I will say the taco wins hands down. It is a Better truck in every aspect I can throw at it, But to be fair it is a new design from the frame up and the ranger is a 20 year old design with modern updates.

well it depends. i'm sure when you add an extended cab, a ton of 4wd equipment, and some heavy skidplates, that can make a significant difference in how a truck accelerates. I think my truck is plenty fast and has enough power to do what I need it to do. I've never driven one of the new tacomas though.

they feel plenty fast to me. I floored it from a dead stop and the truck just sat their tires spinning. The only midsize I have driven that is faster is the new Frontier.
