4.0 sohc random cylinder 1 misfire

Okay so long story short- dad borrowed my truck while i was on vacation -came back and there was cylinder 1 misfire on ODB scanner. Rumbling engine when putting into drive, 2nd gear is worse. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through with no help
This was about 2 months ago. We've still been driving it around as a farm truck.

I just went for a drive today and gunned it down the highway. came back and misfire is gone on scanner.

I'm thinking stuck fuel injector. More injector cleaner? Brand? Lucas? It just ran like a dream just now. I think it just needs to be driven. I put 87 octane gas in and synthetic blend oil.

Also, I've already replaced cylinder 1 plug and all plug wires.

Thanks all, any advice would be appreciated.

The truck had been driven irregularly -perhaps sparsely- for the most part?
Does "farm truck" mean it isn't registered? just askin'

Maybe it just needed to 'breathe heavily' to get some snot out of its intake?
Give it a load of "better than regular" and drive it more.

Yes, the truck had mostly been driven around the property for hauling wood and trips to the dump (8 mi. round trip?), while i was out of town. It was running perfectly beforehand.

So you're saying to put Premium in it for a change? full tank? lucas? seafoam? any other advice? Thanks.
I know the degradation of fuel these days - I'll try a tank of 89 octane and see if it cleans it out.
And yes, it's registered.

Since the ignition timing would be "allowed to advance" with higher octane fuel, you'd get snappier performance.
Live it up with a full tank. It'll be back to whatever grade fuel you use regularly soon enough.
I'm not into additives except for PEA cleaners like Techron or Redline...they have more PEA.

Hey thanks to Georgeandkira for the great advice on the octance fuel.
2nd day since i put 89 Super gas in - and no check engine light or rumbling engine! Great fix and so easy! Will keep that in mind for next time.

Much appreciated!
