anyone change heads/cams in 4.0sohc

has anyone upgraded the heads/cams or even pulled the stock heads off for any reason?
im thinking about the stage 3 heads w/ regrind cams from supersixmotorsports.com for my truck, to give me some better flow and more power( 4.0 mustang-auto-single exhaust peaked at 25hp gain with no change in tuning, and i think it was 40ftlbs tq) so if i can get those numbers or a little better after a tune ill be happy!

stage 3 heads $1650 *$250 refundable left/right core set
Custom regrind cams(these only work with the stg 3 heads) $575 *$125 refundable lt/rt core set
ARP alloy head studs $385 (may not be needed on N/A motor, but if your spending 2k on heads/cams might as well get better studs)

well since there isn't anyone else who makes parts for the 4.0 SOHC, i wouldn't complain if you really wanted to build on up...

I'd spend it and some time on the chassis dyno to harness the new heads full potential. I think with a good tune and headers with free flowing exhaust you may be looking at more like 40hp and 50-60 lb/ft of torque. That works for me...

my mistake...
Our Stage 2+ heads have been shown to add 25 peak horsepower and 19 ft-lbs peak torque when tested at the rear wheels on a Mustang chassis dyno on an automatic 4.0 SOHC Mustang with single exhaust with no changes in tuning! Horsepower and torque increased throughout the entire RPM range with non-peak horsepower increases of up to 50 RWHP and non-peak torque increases as high as 80 ft-lbs! 5-speed cars will show even higher gains and with further tuning, even more power will be produced!

got the numbers mixed up and the heads... as these are only stage 2-no cams..

so the numbers would be a bit higher with stg 3 and cams and a dyno tune...

i dont see how, without cramming in a ****load more air, these mods are actually worth it.

anyone have specs for thier cams and specs for the stock cam?

Well a mustang dyno is hard to improve numbers on so that is very respectable. Also, with a free flow exhaust and intake it would gain more power easily. Also the ***** thing is you may have to pull the motor to get to the rear cam chain on the passanger side.

ha ^^ ya i read that, and thats why i will be paying the speed shop down the road to mess with it.

i have JBA headers on the truck now, and with the other bolt on mods keeping stock bottom end, id be hoping for about 300hp which i feel is possible with heads/cams/headers/cat back/pullies/efan/bigger TB or bore out the stock one, and the next size up injectors(if needed) and a dyno tune
