Just turned 100K on my '04 4.0. Thought I would change the plugs for the first time. Five out the 6 look accessible, but how d you get to the back one on the passenger side? I'm not even sure I can get my hand down there to remove the plug wire. Also, do you all use anti-sieze on the threads? Thank you.

 

take off the wheel and you can access it through the gap guard. actually, it is easier to access the whole passenger side this way

 

Yes, always use anti-seize on all sparkplug threads.

my 06 ranger has well over 100k on it should i be changing my plugs?

 

i would have never thought to take the tire off, i would have just bent twisted and all about chopped off my hand to get it out.
i always use anti seize and torque them. a little known fact is that torque grease really does make a difference, sometimes the reading on the gauge isn't what is really happening. so apply a little bit of torque grease to the threads in addition to anti seize.

 

Good quality anti-seize will do the same thing. The grease isn't necessary at all.

I need to buy a lift cuz at my old age chopping off my hand is about equally appealing to crawling around on the floor to get at those plugs.

 

i broke the back one on the passenger side it sucked to get it out. had to use a flat head and wiggle it out thread by thread. fords 5.4 3v the plugs are a 10mm and ALWAYS break those suck
