Check gauge light came on

Recently the camshaft syncro was replaced and the 2000 4.0 Ranger and was running fine.

A few days ago the engine started to vibrate and the check guages light came on. The oil pressure guage was low also. This I was told and I have not seen the truck yet.

The old camshaft syncro was removed before the engine was put at TDC. I saw where instruction stated not to rotate the engine while it was out or engine damage could occur.

Does anyone know why this is stated and if maybe something was done wrong.

Truck was driven for several hundred miles before this new problem occured. The new Syncro went in with no problem even tho the engine was rotated to TDC on compression stroke when it was out.

Any suggestions would be appreaciated. Thanks.

Was the new syncro made by Dorman?

not sure but I do know it was bought at Carquest, not the dealer. Only thing I can think of is the gear spun. Truck still starts, just misfires bigtime as i was told so I'm suspecting possibly low oil pressure because the gear is still on fairly tight. Cant' think of any other reason why i would have both ruff running and low oil pressure. Hopefully it is just low oil pressure and not zero, just low enough to turn the check gauge light on.

I won't be able to go look at it till tomorrow.

Why do you ask about Dormin ?? Thanks

Dorman is an inferior knockoff that is known to fail rather quickly.

My check gauge light goes on and off. Truck shakes sometimes when idle like it's gonna die. And the oil gauge is all the way down... What should I look for?

Or is it related to the same issue sbvette has??

fhijar yours is a different issue.
get the PCM codes read and post them ,along with your problem in the four cylinder forum.
Many on here only read the forums that pertain to what they run.
