Code p1443; how to test the canister purge flow sensor?
I have been working on my 1997 ford ranger with the trouble code p1443. I initially found broken evap hoses from canister to purge valve. Then I tested purge valve and it would hold vacuum, but pass impedance/resistance test. I am beginning to get at my whits ends here. I went to my local ford dealership to try to get my hands on a factory service manual to for more component testing information and the service writer told me "I can't do that".
Good to post definition of code
P1443 Evaporative Emission System Control Valve (low/no flow)
So this may not be an electrical issue because computer did not use "circuit" codes, this is why its good to look up codes on a FULL LIST, vs googling a single code
Computer did not use:
P1444 Evaporative Emission System Purge Flow Sensor Circuit Low Input
P1445 Purge Flow Sensor Circuit High Input
P1446 Evaporative Vacuum Solenoid Circuit
Ford code List here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...II_codes.shtml
It could still be a bad part, but it would test as OK or computer would have set a code that it didn't "test OK", so while its best to test electrical parts yourself the computer also tests all the electrical parts on startup
Have a read here for that code on a 1997(this is 1996) Ranger: https://www.therangerstation.com/for...0#post-1694143
No, I don't have a shop manual set for 1997 Ranger, but Public Library will and you can get a library card and log in from home to view and print it
