does anyone know what this connector is???

I have a 94 ranger 4.0L and just swaped with a 4.0L out of a 93, everything was going good untill i came across a missing engine connector. I dont have any pics to post but on my old engine there was 3 major connectors coming off the engine that connect by the drivers side fuse area, 2 square ones (gray and black) and one black round 8 pin. well on the 93 motor there is no black round 8 pin. what does that mean? ill see if i can get some pics up later, thanks.

not sure if this will work or not but here it is Name: P_01284.jpg

Page not found …but while you're at Photobucket, why not try

You may need to swap the old engine harness over.

I don't have a 94 book but I do have a 93 which is usually the same. In 93, there were two versions of the 4.0L - California and Federal.

The Federal engine was 'bank-to-bank' injection meaning that the injectors are fired simultaneously in two groups of three. The California engine was 'sequential' injection meaning that the PCM fires each individual injector independently.

The 93 California sequential injection has the potential for reduced emissions and is the system used on all current Rangers. However, it also needed more individual wires than the bank-to-bank injection. The 93 California 4.0L had an extra 8-pin connector that was not present on the Federal version. I suspect that the 94 manual would show the same thing.

I believe that you'll need to change the harness and anything else that's different.
