Driver side upper timming chain

I have a question for my 03 4.0 sohc ranger. I'm kind of worried about I've notices that when I installed my lest side (driver side) front cassetes and chain the bottom side of the chain which goes around the camshaft sprocket. The opposite side of where the tensioner goes the chain is a lil loose is that normal? Because when I put a socket on the camshaft bolt and put some pressure on it like is I was going to turn it it gets tight? So I really wondering if I did something wrong or is that normal and once the engine turns over and the cams spin will it get tight? Please help!!

I just also noticed that if I turn the crankshaft a lil clockwise the chain then gets tight but if I turn it a lil to the right where it's a lil off of tdc the chain gets a lil loose? I would think that's normal or no? Since the motor I suspect turns clockwise so that would keep the chain tight. Or is it just that there is no oil pressure yet? I really don't know??
