Engine Knocking
Engine Knocking
Ive been meaning to post this up for a little while but Ive just been trying to check a few things to rule a few things out.
Okay, Heres my deal. My 4L in my 92 Ranger is knocking. I have replaced one head (passenger side head) before the knocking started. I have driven it about 3000 miles after replacing the head and then it starts knocking. The Oil level is good (running 10W30) and the engine still runs very strong. I havent noticed a decrease in power at all since the knocking started. I havent tested the compression yet but I might do it sometime this week if you guys think I should try it.
What do you guys think could be knocking?

Higher Octane Gas does nothing for it. It follows the RPMS but does it the loudest under a load. I dont think it is a rod because it runs way too good to have a bent rod.
I am thinking it may be a valve tap of some sort but not 100% if it is or not.

it doesnt have to be a bent rod the bearings could be laying in the oil pan like my s10s motor
Hmm, Im gonna have to try and seafoam my engine then and see if that helps any. If not I guess I will have to see about tightening the rockers.
