POWER STEERING PROBLEMS ??

I have an 2008 Ford Ranger Sport Super Cab 4.0L V6 and i have been noticing that my steering is quite tougher then other vehicles. Ive also notice a sound that is similar to a dry bearing. Ive been told the pump probable needs to be replaced.
Just seeing what you guys think or if you have had a similar problem.

I would check the fluid first. See if it has any.

Pull your serp belt and see if the pulley wobbles, will show you if the bearings are toast.

My truck sounds super charged because of the PS pump whine. It leaks a bit, my solution is a 5.0 swap. I suggest the same.

Or a Saginaw pump would be alot easier/cheaper...

Well I still have bumper to bumper and its going into the shop tomorrow.
So it should be costing me nothing.
I know its the power steering, and there is fluid, its a bit low, but not that much at all.
Its also getting the 24,000km check done, so hopefully that will also help.

For what its worth Ive notice my truck is tougher than most cars I have driven. Its been like that from day one. Ford ps pumps are known to be loud just a little bit low on fluid may magnify this. You also might have some air in the system. That also tends to make a howl.
