Alright Ill be getting back from Iraq here in about a month and want to do some work to my truck(00' B4K). Im for sure going to do a Gibson catback, what do you guys recommend for a replacement cat, i was thinking magnaflow. Also headers would be nice, Ive seen the JBA headers get mentioned a lot but nothing really about the Gibson headers, do either of them come with a Y-pipe?. Id like the whole exhaust to be the same brand and not pieced together but if not oh well. Oh and the headers arent listed on Summit for the Mazda but they are for the Ranger, should I be concearned about this at all? Thanks!

The JBA headers are a shortie style and reuse the factory Y-pipe. At least with my OHV they do.

Your very limited on cats if you want to stay fairly stock. unless your over 100k i really wouldn't worry about them unless your hoping for a louder exhaust.

 

Im right about at 85K for miles... Anyone have any other info on the headers an catback?? Ease level of install? Anything really?? hah

 

I love my JBA headers. They are sort of a pain to install, but can be done through the fender well. That is really all help with because my exhaust is custom from the first two cats back.

 

Never even seen the gibson headers.. do you have a pic/part number?

 

I have pulled the cats for my trans swap. I had to use a "Bolt Out" from sears. Then had to replace the hardware. So be prepared for rusty and stuck hardware.

The manifolds should come off easier, should anyway.

A good penetrating oil will help you out. I hope you have a warm dry place to do this. As it is a weekend project.

 

So just like any other header install, PBblaster on everything, let it soak in and such..? Also the part number for the Gibson headers is listed in the first post in this thread.. Should I invest in getting a shop to bend me up a better Y-pipe or is the stock one sufficient with the JBA's and a catback? Sorry for all the questions guys but I dont know a whole lot about my truck, I was more involved with my car and Im about done with it so moving to the truck now..

 

IIRC, the stock y pipe is a 2.5 inch. Theres a size reduction just after the cats to 2 inch.

The 2.5 inch pipe should be fine. Im not sure what size pipe the replacement cats come in.
