Icon5 Wiring harness PCM differences....

Hey guys,

Would I have any issues if I used a 4.0 4X4 automatic wiring harness on my 2 WD?
Do I absolutely have to get a wiring harness from a 2 WD that had a 4.0 SOHC?

The engine harness should be same. It plugs in at the firewall and and pcm. I would check the wiring side by side to verify all colors are in the same place and not missing any wires.

If you are you can add wires to the harness with a pin repair kit from the dealer.

Thanks for responding to my question Blhde.
I'm just wondering if the 4X4 wiring harness would have a set of wires going to the transfer case ... and if so, would it be ok to cap them off?

You should be able to use the 4wd harness with no problems but you didn't give enough info. Like what year and motor you have now.

I'm assuming hes got the 4.0, although you know what they say about assuming.

Depending on the year these truck use 1 to 3 bulk head connectors. Its all or nothing. The will be no need to cap off anything.

Oh my bad, It's a 2004 4X4 Ranger with a 2004 SOHC engine.

Hey, Blhde ... I'm getting ready head up to Lyndon, IL to pick up my project truck. You would happen to have any front end parts for a 95-97 Ranger would you?

4x4...2wd...don't really matter for engine harness. The tcase harness is seperate from the engine harness. My engine talked about in your other thread came from a 2wd. BUT, I'm unsure on differences of PCM programming(2wd to 4wd).
