92 in a 70. I have the ticket on my record clocked at 86. I was slowing down.

I'm scared to do 75 in my truck these days though... it's badly out of alignment

haha not true on all trucks

my driveshaft vibrated off, cutting my exhaust and drivers side shock in half, wiping the heatshield off my gas tank, flattening the "U" shaped support under the cab flat to the floor, breaking my tailshaft housing in half, and cracking my transfer case in half. i felt the speed limiter kick in and let off the gas right as it happened...

'twas a fun ride indeed!

about 90. Also have a ticket when it happened. 85 in a 70 but the cop was nice. She ended up giving me a 75 to account for the hill, which wasn't really a hill.

Please, just one more. . .

I did 500+ mph once (or so I was told). . .

but it was in a Boeing 747 . . . and I wasn't even driving/piloting. . .

wasn't very exciting at all, almost felt like I was standing still . . .

And it was all done legally!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist . . .

Completely stock only gets me 96-97 tops and that was on I85. Not too mention I was still getting passed. Alot of times if i'm on the same shift as my buddy at county, i'll tuck in behind him and we move through traffic.

stupid thing to do. now i might be lucky to hit 80 on the interstate. speeding is pointless. maybe that is just a sign of getting old.

No, just growing up and becoming wiser! Unlike some RF members that show signs of never growing up, and/or don't have the ability to become wiser!!!

Because the e-police are gonna take your IP and hack your ISP to get your home address and mail you a ticket for a speed you claimed to have gone on the internet.

Oh wait.

And for people saying there is no reason to go faster than 70. Bull. Time is money in many casses. If I spent $20 more in fuel to take 2hrs off of my commute to a $20,000 business deal....money well spent.

Just because YOU dont have places to be and people to see doesnt mean other people dont. I'd bet some of you are the people who slow down when people even get close to tailgating. So instead of avoiding conflict by speeding up a bit or making room for them to pass, you are proactive in potentially creating road rage. Yes, the person tailgating is in the wrong, but two wrongs make you dead.

If you speed up to the maximum speed you are comfortable traveling and they continue to tailgate, then slowing down for a bit is a way to tell them to back off. In any case, at that point you should be looking for a way to let them by.

The first time I drove in J-Ville at like 16 I couldn't believe I was being tailgated for doing 80 in a 65. I was just keeping a safe following distance behind some mini cooper. After like two cars got around me they about ran him off of the road. Dude was on his cell and swerving. Going 75-85 and back constantly.

All is fine and dandy if you want to go the speed limit, just dont do it in the left hand lane.

You can actually get a ticket for impeding traffic flow, even if you are going the limit. We talked about doing this in Tampa on I-275. When we asked an FHP officer if we could get in trouble, he said it is quite possible.

Where do you all come up with these crazy numbers. Your speedo only goes to 85. How do you know you are going 86 or 186. You don't. you are guessing unless you have GPS. I know how fast my Ranger is because I have the timing slips from the track. Oh yea. The "Rocket Ranger" runs 115mph in 1320 ft.

Perfect post for this thread^^

^^And what does that have to do with driving a truck recklessly at 90+mph

Pickups are not meant to go fast, my case and point below.

My Speedo goes to 120mph. Governed at 89mph in 5th and 95 in 4th. They probably didnt have 120mph clusters in 96.
